It's featured here because Vikram, the founder of Clear Growth Plans, played a pivotal role in this story as a digital marketing strategist and client success manager. It reflects on a time when Vikram was employed by ElementIQ, a performance marketing agency based in Vancouver, BC.

 

At a stage when the organization was facing an existential crisis, they partnered with ElementIQ for a website redesign and development project.

 

Best wins

 

Working with MCLD meant that all approvals required the consent of multiple volunteer Board members and Ambassadors. For effective collaboration, we organized onboarding, discovery calls, ideation sessions, and review meetings where I virtually met many of the volunteer Board members and Ambassadors in group calls.

The greatest WIN came in the early stages during the discovery phase. At this stage, we wanted to ascertain the positioning of the organization. ‘Why do you exist?’ is a question that generated lots of engagement. It helped the members of the organization re-discover the passion that drives them to volunteer for this non-profit organization.

Coordinating the discussions that created alignment between all the members of the organization about the purpose and mission of this non-profit was the biggest win.

The appreciation that the website received from every member of the organization, and the feeling of pride that it generated amongst its members for contributing to the cause, was an absolute thrill and counts as another definite win.

MCLD continued to keep in touch with me and we worked on several smaller projects over time. The momentum led them to venture into a new space during COVID of organizing online webinars. Once or twice a month, they started getting credible and qualified professionals involved in the learning disability community as guest speakers.

The ElementIQ team and I helped them with website updates and ran Meta Ads campaigns to promote these webinars. Some of these events had over 100 people in attendance. 

The transformation of this aging organization into a modern tech savvy force that amplified its impact with many successful webinars is certainly the greatest win.

 

The hacks that worked

 

  • Positioning

We helped the organization communicate clear messages through its website about why it exists (mission: to be the allies and advocates for people with learning disabilities), who it serves (target audience: the English speaking population of Montreal impacted by learning disabilities), and how it helps (programs and services). 

 

  • Reporting

Seeing the growth in traffic and leads through monthly reports inspired the MCLD team to create greater impact. We started exploring ideas to leverage digital technologies to reach more people. This eventually led to the start of online webinars. 

 

  • Meta Ads

With geo-targeted Meta Ads and website landing pages for each webinar, we drove new people to attend their webinars. Some of these Zoom events had over 100 participants.

 

Key to success

 

The enthusiasm of the Board members to adopt digital technologies and their sincere passion and commitment to help people with learning disabilities has been the key to success in giving MCLD a new life full of zeal and vigor.
